How to make a 3D animated series with AI

Lock a 3D animated style for the whole series, write each character’s design in concrete terms with a reference render, and generate episodes one at a time from a season outline.

Keeping it 3D

Ask an image model for “3D animation” once and you get a 3D render; ask a hundred times across a season and some shots come back photoreal, some flat 2D. The look holds only if every shot carries the same style direction, including what the look is not.

AISP’s 3D Animation style asks for animated CGI in the style of a modern animated feature: stylised proportions, smooth subsurface-scattered skin, soft global illumination and rounded forms with clear volume. It rules out photoreal, live action, flat 2D, cel shading and film grain. The direction is added to every shot and locked when the series is created.

Characters that look the same in every episode

The agent writes each character’s appearance in the series bible (age, build, hair, clothing and distinguishing features) and paints a character render that seeds solo shots. Scenes chain into each other so lighting and location carry through, and continuity notes after each episode stop the story contradicting itself.

By default the 3D style uses the Stylised brush. You can override the brush, and AISP warns you if the brush you pick cannot paint the medium the style promises.

Getting from outline to episodes

Set scenes per episode and scene length to decide the runtime: eight scenes of eight seconds is just over a minute. Script episode 1, read it, and confirm the quoted cost. Storyboard and Motion are the cheapest ways to see whether the story works; the video tiers render moving 3D footage with generated dialogue and sound.

Episodes play in AISP on the web and on Android, and published series appear in the public catalog after a review.

Questions

Is it suitable for a kids’ show?

The 3D style suits family content, but anything published goes through AISP’s review and content policy, and you remain responsible for what you make.

Can I change to 2D later?

No, the style is locked per series. Start a new series to try a different style.
